Hi! I'm Soumya, a mom, Artist, home décor and DIY enthusiast currently based in the Chicagoland area.

Painting has helped me discover and explore aspects of my creativity that were unknown to me. I've been able to leave my worries behind and express emotions I've struggled to put in words. Hopefully my art pieces resonate with feelings you may be having to help soothe your worries. I began teaching Indian folk art and traditional art in order to help others connect to all parts of themselves to bring them closer to reaching their fullest potential while creating a beautiful art piece custom to their liking. At present am exploring aspects of Mandala drawing which gives me immense peace during these tough times.

I use many different mediums, such as clay, acrylics, oil paints and pastels. 

I believe that working with many mediums enhances not only the quality of my work but creativity with details. By using different mediums I am able to bring my art classes students' and client's vision to life with my own individual style. Single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style keeping my customers and students vision in mind even though the inspiration is drawn from our Indian Folk art.

Being of Indian origin, my art work is predominantly influenced and inspired by the rich culture of my roots. Madubani (Mithila), Warli, Kalamkari, Kerala Mural, mandala drawing and Tanjore art styles are few of my favorite Indian folk art forms and I'm always learning new forms. I often focus my personal pieces around different Hindu deities (Ganesha, Krishna), Bhudda and peacocks while using different styles to color my pieces. Often, I experiment with bright and bold colors to bring out the life in my art pieces however I enjoy a natural, rustic look as well.
